What if I don't have any exercise equipment at home?
Not a problem! You will be able to choose if you would like your program to include home based sessions (where no equipment is necessary) or to be gym based.
What if I have never exercised before?
This is for you! Receiving expert advice from an Exercise Physiologist is even more important if you do not currently undertake regular exercise. We design your program based on your current health and activity levels. Effective exercise does not have to be anything complicated and you can do your program in the comfort of your own home if you wish. Your individually tailored program will be accessible via the website and The IVF Project app. It will contain all the information you need to complete your exercise sessions safely. Videos and images will help guide you and you can track your sessions on The IVF Project app!
I am not undergoing any fertility treatment - Can I still access your services?
Absolutely. Your individual exercise program can cover all stages of fertility treatment, including a pre-treatment exercise program. Indeed, the earlier you start making your body baby ready the better!
I am quite athletic and exercise A LOT - will you be able to provide me with a suitable program?
Yes! I prescribe exercise for high performance athletes and love to be active myself. Managing competition and assisted reproductive treatment requires specialist consideration, particularly in relation to ensuring your more intense exercise sessions are timed optimally in relation to the stages of your treatment. You can manage treatment and still enjoy some intense workouts or even compete when the timing is right! Timing is everything though and our resources around energy balance and fertility treatment will be a must read for you.
How will I be able to follow the program designed for me?
Your program will be accessible through The IVF Project app and also through The IVF Project website member's area. It will contain all the information you need to complete your exercise sessions safely, including video demonstrations and images. You can also track your sessions!
You can also see us in our Brisbane Clinic for one on one exercise physiology sessions that will step you through each exercise.
What if I have a question about my program?
Please get in touch! Expert support and advice is only an email away.
What exactly is an Exercise Physiologist?
An Exercise Physiologist is an Allied Health Professional with the highest level of training to prescribe exercise for the prevention and treatment of clinical conditions. At a minimum an Exercise Physiologist has completed a four year University Bachelor Degree which equips them with the skills and competencies to design, deliver and evaluate safe and effective exercise interventions for people who have acute, sub-acute or chronic medical conditions, injuries and disabilities.
Conditions such as unexplained infertility, polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, male factor fertility issues, diabetes and specialist weight management require expertise in exercise prescription to ensure the program you receive is safe AND effective.
We know how exercise affects your endocrine, cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems, and your wellbeing. At the ivf project we also know what assisted reproductive treatments do to your body and how to adjust your exercise prescription accordingly!
What exactly is a Dietitian?
Dietitians are tertiary qualified in food, nutrition and dietetics. Qualified dietitians have undertaken a course of study that has included supervised and assessed professional practice in public health nutrition, medical nutrition therapy and food service management.
Dietitians are qualified to work in private clinical practice, hospitals and the medical nutrition industry. They provide expert nutrition advice for people of all ages and prescribe dietary treatments for many conditions such as diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome, cancers, gastrointestinal diseases, and overweight and obesity. Diet can be a powerful tool to improve the outcome of your assisted reproductive treatment and here at The IVF Project we want to make sure you get expert, evidence based dietary guidance!
